4-Day Agra Jaipur Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Agra

We will meet you at Agra Cantt Railway Station or your hotel to begin a tour of Agra's major attractions in the afternoon and early evening.

Places to visit:

Agra Fort: a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Mughals lived there before moving to Delhi in 1638. It will take 1.5 - 2 hours for your visit.
Itmad-Ud-Daulah (Baby Taj): Built from 1622 to 1628, the structure is older than the Taj Mahal and has the same type of marble inlay work. This site is less visited compared to the Taj Mahal but well worth seeing.
Mehtab Bagh: Garden on the opposite side of the river from the Taj Mahal; visit at night for a clear view without being blocked by trees.

Day 2: Taj Mahal Sunrise, Fatehpur Sikri, Drive to Jaipur

Arrive early because the gates open at sunrise (usually 6 a.m.).

Taj Mahal: Built between 1632 and 1653 by Emperor Shah Jahan. Entry is not permitted on Fridays. Budget at least 2 hours.
Drive to Jaipur via Fatehpur Sikri (240 km, approximately 4.5 hrs).
Stop at Fatehpur Sikri (40 km from Agra): UNESCO World Heritage Site. Key sites include Buland Darwaza, Jodha Bai Palace, and the Tomb of Salim Chishti. Allow 45-60 minutes to visit these locations.
Optional stop at Chand Baori, Abhaneri: The largest stepwell in India, built about 800 A.D., is 30 meters (98 ft.) deep and has about 3,500 narrow steps. This requires a 20-minute diversion, but most groups find it worthwhile.

Evening arrival and check-in in Jaipur.

Day 3: Full Day Jaipur Sightseeing

Jaipur was built in 1727. It is India's first planned city and the capital of Rajasthan.

Morning:

Amber Fort: The fort is located about 11 km outside the city. It was built in 1592 by Raja Man Singh I with red sandstone and marble. At the base of the fort, elephant rides are available for an additional fee, but they must be reserved in advance.
Jal Mahal: The palace is built on Man Sagar Lake and is not open for visitors; however, it makes a great photo opportunity from the road.

Afternoon:

Hawa Mahal: Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. It has 953 small windows. Entry is through the rear gate.
City Palace: A complex of courtyards, museums, and royal apartments. The royal family still occupies the Chandra Mahal section.
Jantar Mantar: A UNESCO-listed astronomical observatory built in the early 18th century. It contains the world's largest stone sundial.

Evening:

Walk through Johari Bazaar for gems and jewelry or Bapu Bazaar for Rajasthani textiles and handicrafts.

Day 4: Jaipur Local Sightseeing and Drop-Off

Morning:

Patrika Gate: It is an attractive decorative gate located next to Jawahar Circle, where many people take photographs!
Birla Mandir: Built of white marble in 1988. It is a quiet location with fewer people than most places in Jaipur.

The morning is open for any last-minute shopping as per your schedule.

You can be dropped off at the railway station or the international airport of Jaipur according to your own schedule.
