Itinerary

In Agra, on the left side of the river Yamuna, after Chini Ka Roza, is the tomb of Itmad-ud-Daula, which was built by Nur Jahan, the wife of the Mughal emperor Jahangir, in memory of her father. During Jahangir's reign, Nur Jahan's father Mirza Ghiyas Beg held the position of Wazir. He was given the title of Itmad-ud-Daula. Nur Jahan finished building her father's tomb in 1628 AD, about 7 years after his death.  She wanted this memorial to be made of silver

Historian Rajkishore Raje says that writer Bala Dubey in his book 'Agra Ke Gali-Muhalle' has mentioned Nur Jahan's desire to get her father's mausoleum made of silver. Had changed his mind on the persuasion of Sakhi Sitti Unnisa. The Itmad-ud-Daulah monument in the middle of the Charbagh style garden is made of white marble. It houses the tomb of Mirza Ghiyas Beg and his Begum Asmat Begum.
