On the other side, the Golden Temple, the most venerated site of the Sikh faith, is located in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.japjitravel.com\/blog\/your-trip-is-incomplete-if-you-do-not-visit-these-places-in-amritsar\/\"><strong>Amritsar<\/strong>, <\/a>a thriving city in Punjab. I started my adventure by being involved in the daily rites and religious ceremonies performed along the ghats and by attending the evening Ganga Aarti, a captivating display of fire and devotion. Ashrams and yoga retreats can be found all across the town, where visitors can participate in a variety of yoga and meditation techniques. I signed up for a week-long yoga retreat where I was guided by seasoned gurus in the awakening of my mind, body, and soul. The iconic band found comfort and inspiration at The Beatles Ashram, also known as Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram, while they were visiting India. I experienced awe and nostalgia as I walked around the graffiti-covered, abandoned structures, as though the area still carried the echoes of their great spiritual trip.\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Adventure and the embrace of nature<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rishikesh<\/strong> is not simply a haven for spiritual pilgrims; it also provides thrill-seekers with a wide range of exciting activities. White-water rafting was an exhilarating experience that allowed me to connect with the untamed power of nature, so I could not resist giving it a try. I was in awe as I walked up to the Golden Temple and saw how the shimmering Amrit Sarovar (Pool of Nectar) reflected the glowing shrine.\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Calm of the Golden Temple<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The most sacred Gurdwara in Sikh tradition is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.japjitravel.com\/places\/amritsar\/100-golden-temple-amritsar\/\">the Golden Temple<\/a><\/strong>, also referred to as Sri Harmandir Sahib. I spent a lot of time in the sanctuary, where I felt incredibly peaceful and spiritual. A sombre reminder of the sacrifices made during the struggle for freedom was a trip to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.japjitravel.com\/places\/amritsar\/101-jallianwala-bagh-amritsar\/\">Jallianwala Bagh, <\/a><\/strong>the scene of a horrific massacre in 1919. The Martyrs&#8217; Well and the bullet-scarred walls sparked feelings and brought home the value of harmony, peace, and the quest of justice.\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Border Ceremony in Wagah<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I went to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.japjitravel.com\/places\/amritsar\/105-wagah-border-amritsar\/\"><strong>Wagah Border Ceremony<\/strong><\/a> to see the passion and pride that both India and Pakistan displayed.
