Undoubtedly South India’s most serenely beautiful state, Kerala is always on the top five list of every traveller’s wish list. Slender shaped layered landscape with a long coastline of about 600km of glorious Arabian Sea, the state sees the footfall of both domestic and international travellers. The God’s Own Country has too many places to offer to tourists of every kind. Hill-stations, backwaters, commercial cities, hamlets – name it and you will find it here.

Alleppey is the backwater hot spot. The best time to visit is during September to mid-May and is about 53 km away from the city. Rightly called the Venice of the East, enjoying a houseboat vacation here is what people have it on their dream list.

A very popular one among hill stations in Kerala is Munnar, which is more for the romantic honeymooners! With about 80,000 miles of tea plantation along with aromatic vegetation, what adds to the mystery of this place is the low-flying clouds and the shady valleys. Cosy home stays and lavish hotels and resorts in Munnar are available here and give a vibe of the old world colonial charm. TATA Tea Museum, Meesapulimala,Attukal Waterfalls, Cheeyappara Waterfalls, Blossom Park, Pothamedu ViewPoint etc. are some of the places to see. The best time to come here is during October to March.

One of most tranquil places to visit in Kerala is Kumarakom which is located near Vembanad Lake. The alluring sceneries, ever-pleasant weather and plethora of flora and fauna create an exotica! Aromatic coconut grooves, fresh paddy fields, waterways, decorated lakes, thick mangrove forests are what makes the place exceptionally mesmerizing apart from being serene. Aruvikkuzhi waterfall, Juma Masjid, Thirunakkara Mahadeva Temple, Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, Kumarakom Backwaters, Cheriyapally, Kumarakom Beach etc. are major places of attraction.

Literally meaning the land of paddy fields, Wayanad also offers godly beauty with a perfect mix of nature and man-made heritage.

Those who have the love for wildlife, Thekkady is the choice. November to early-May being the best time to visit, one can find deers, bisons, boars,elephants, lions, tigers etc. Kadathanadan Kalari Centre, Elephant Junction, Mullaperiyar Dam, Periyar Tiger Trail, Ayurvedic Garden, Kumily and many more the places to visit here.

One of best beaches in Kerala is at Kovalam beach. Being a much popular tourist destination now, this beach is also used for sunbathing fests and parasailing by young travellers. Thiruvallam Parasurama Temple, Vizhinjam Marine Aquarium, Lighthouse Beach, Hawah Beach, Akkulam Lake, Vizhinjam Fishing Harbor are the other places of interest. Varkala is another scenic seaside where visitors can find water-adventure enthusiasts and the pristine beauty of sunsets.
